Maps

Maps of the Apolobamba are hard to find, and often inaccurate. At present the best sources are

  • Paul Hudson's handrawn map of the Apolobamba. This is constantly being updated and is probably the most useful map of the area. Available direct from Paul Hudson (www.therockface.co.uk).
  • The two guidebooks to the area contain some maps:
    • Bolivia: A Climbing Guide; Yossi Brain; Cordee 1999, ISBN 1-871890-48-9
    • The Andes of Bolivia; Alain Mesili, Producciones CIMA 2004; ISBN 99905-79-08-03
  • The IGM do produce some maps of the area. These should be available from their offices in La Paz, or possible from one of the specialist mountaineering shops on Sagarnaga Street.
